I built my first treadmill desk in October 2006 after watching an interview with Dr. James Levine on ABC’s Primetime 20/20.
That was a life changing moment, and since that day I’ve logged thousands of steps as I talked, surfed and worked as I walked at my treadmill desk.
In 2008 Primetime 20/20 found me online and asked me to appear on a follow up to the original treadmill desk story that I saw in 2006.
On May 20, 2008 ABC came to the house to film footage for the segment. They were at our house 5 HOURS! Guess how much made it into the story? Here’s my 24 seconds of fame!
Over the years the treadmill desk has evolved from the initial makeshift setup to a true walking office.
You can see the first version in the Primetime 20/20 video below. I replaced the initial treadmill in 2010, and that one lasted until the pandemic, when it finally died of old age.
That’s when I decided it was time to create a proper treadmill workstation, My current treadmill is an “under desk” model, and the setup is wonderful (see pic, that’s Queenie under the desk). This has been my lifestyle for over 15 years and I love it as much today as I did then. It certainly has been a major part of my weight loss story and an integral part of my exercise routine.
